Emma Tucker

I am a recent(ish) university graduate of Journalism, after deciding that psychology was just not for me (what would Freud say?). I love to read and write and have a firm belief that should you wish to write, you must first devote yourself to reading. My particular favourite authors include Stephen King, Vladimir Nabokov, Frank Herbert and Tolkien.

I have published several articles and feature stories through various publications, including Quest Newspapers and Journey magazine through my work for a Brisbane non-profit organisation and during my university career. I have also written several short stories and enjoy writing immensely (except that of writing biographies about myself). I am beginning work on my first novel.

Between drinking far too much tea, baking, travelling and taking photos, I also write a personal blog and tweet.

I don’t know if you’ve heard of the American writer Jennifer Egan. She won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction last year with her collection of short stories A Visit from the Goon Squad. Anyway she spoke of writers block as being the fear of writing badly. And that the better writing comes from writing multiple drafts.
Good luck Emma, I do hope work on your novel goes extremely well , as I’m sure it will. You sound like you know what you’re doing.
